Fursuits

To get a bit closer to one's character, some Furries use a disguise that they either have built themselves or was manufactured by someone else. I made such a fursuit myself, too, and would like to introduce it to you. If you want to know more about fursuits you should visit http://www.fursuit.de/. There is plenty of information about fursuits and related topics.

Fursuit Picture The suit is built to be an anthropomorphic polar fox. However, it doesn't resemble my own character, as you might have thought. Redfur has, as his name suggests, red colored fur, except for the belly and tail tip, where it's white. But the suit is completely white (except the lower arms and legs). Because it was my first fursuit project I wanted to keep it simple to prevent running into great problems already at the beginning. Right now I'm working on a second suit that will match my character more closely.
In the background you can see a part of another fursuit. This is Snowflox, a suit built by Furvan .

Suit Head As I said before, the suit is built very simple. It mostly consists of 13 by 5 feet of white and 3.5 by 5 feet of black fake fur that is separated in half of long and short pelt. The head was built from a cheap face mask I glued white fur onto. I fastened the lenses of a pair of old sunglasses behind the eye holes. This for one causes the impression of real eyes and secondly prevents people from looking into the suit through the holes.

Paws The front paws consist of a pair of cheap gloves, the top covered with fake fur, too. Then I fastened plastic claws to the tips of the fingers. To make the hind paws I used a pair of old slipper-socks. I cut away most of the fabric to half an inch from the sole. Then I sewed the long black fake fur to the remainder of the fabric and they were done. To prevent the fur on the legs from slipping up out of the shoes I made some straps to run under the feet, that keep the fabric in place.

Tail Construction Finally, the tail is a simple fake fur tube, made from four parts, that is kept upright by a wire construction. I had to take care to keep the weight of the tail as low as possible, otherwise the wire would bend. In the meantime I improved the construction to make it a lot stronger. Details about the improvements are in the Tail Story.
